Hibernian has announced the appointment of club legend John 'Yogi' Hughes as the new ambassador for the Hibernian Community Foundation (HCF). This initiative aims to harness the power of football to positively impact the lives of community members in Leith and beyond. Hughes, a beloved figure in the area, expressed his excitement about the role, stating that he understands the significance of Hibernian to the local community. The announcement was made during a networking event at the Hibernian Community Hub, coinciding with the Ron Gordon Football Classic at Easter Road Stadium. HCF's managing director, John MacMillan MBE, emphasized Hughes' deep connection to the club and community, making him an ideal choice for the ambassadorial position. Hughes, who played for Hibernian from 1996 to 2000 and later managed the team, will represent HCF at various events across Edinburgh and Scotland. He is eager to contribute to the foundation's mission of fostering community spirit through football, highlighting the importance of bringing people together for health and wellbeing activities.
