Hibs secure United loanee Jacob Devaney
Hibernian confirmed the signing of 19-year-old Manchester United midfielder Jacob Devaney on a season-long loan from St Mirren, with an option to purchase the player when the deal ends next summer.
Devaney, a deep-lying playmaker, made 18 appearances for St Mirren last season. His performances attracted the Easter Road outfit, who have now added him to their squad.
Manager’s view of the new signing
Head coach David Gray said the club were pleased to bring Devaney to Hibs. “He already has experience of Scottish football and knows the demands of the Premiership, which will be important as he settles into the squad,” Gray told club media.
Gray added, “He’s a technically talented young international footballer who is keen to learn and develop, and we’re looking forward to seeing what he can bring to the group.” He also noted the positive timing of the arrival, saying the club would work to settle Devaney quickly.

Malky Mackay, Hibs’ sporting director, welcomed the player, saying “We’re delighted to welcome a player of Jacob’s calibre to Hibernian FC.” He highlighted Devaney’s background and his experience in the Scottish Premiership.
Mackay noted that several clubs were interested in the player, and expressed gratitude for the efforts that secured the deal. He said the move was an exciting opportunity for both Devaney and the club.
