Hibs Expect Further Transfer Business After Defining Week
Hibernian FC expect further transfer business after a defining week, with the Easter Road side ending an impressive seven-day spell with a gritty victory over Partick Thistle. The team has already brought in several new players this summer, including Jason Kerr, Adam Mayor, Azeem Abdulai, Callum Wright, and Nathan Lowe.
What Happened?
The Easter Road outfit have been on a roll, beating Rangers 2-1, overcoming FK Shkendija in North Macedonia, and reaching the quarter-finals of the Premier Sports Cup by defeating Partick Thistle 1-0 on Sunday. Owen Elding's strike after 12 minutes gave Hibs the win over Thistle at Easter Road.
Why It Matters for Hibernian
Hibs head coach David Gray expects transfer business in both directions before the window closes on September 3. Gray believes Hibs are still "a bit thin" in certain areas of the squad and expects movement both ways to be honest. He thinks they are a little bit thin in a couple of areas and that there will be movement either way.
What Comes Next?
Whether additions are made before Thursday's Conference League play-off first leg against Gent remains to be seen, but Gray believes Hibs head into that match in good fettle. Speaking afterwards, Gray said on the expectation of more business: "We've got a couple of weeks still, so I do. I think we are still looking, as I've always said, and being consistent with that. I do expect there to be movement both ways to be honest, I think we are a little bit thin in a couple of areas."
Hibs' Current Form
Hibs are currently 5th in the Premiership, with 51 points from 33 games, and have a recent form of 3W-0D-2L. They have scored 51 goals and conceded 37 this season, with a goal difference of +14. They are 19 points behind leaders Heart of Midlothian and have a title race that is heating up.
