Hibernian forward Owen Elding has revealed that he wants to play alongside Martin Boyle for the Republic of Ireland national team. Elding, who has impressed since joining Hibernian, has been called up to the Irish squad as a training player for friendly matches against Qatar and Canada. Although he wasn't able to take part in the matches due to the ongoing wait for his Irish citizenship, he made the most of the opportunity. Elding has found the net three times, forming a good partnership in attack with Martin Boyle and adjusting well to the demands of the Scottish Premiership. International football is the logical next step in his soaring trajectory. Red-tape delays have prevented him from being available for involvement in either Hallgrimsson's senior squad or Jim Crawford's under-21s, despite a strong desire from both managers to have him available for selection. But, heading into a new season, Elding will be in a strong position to challenge for a place in the senior squad.
